need some help asap, please.
I am early in my first trimester and this morning, I woke up with a slightly swollen gum around my bottom left wisdom tooth. It was sore, but not excruciating. I thought it may have been irritated by the jalapeno peppers in my dinner last night. But throughout the day, it has gotten worse. It is now very painful to the point where it is hard to open my mouth/swallow/talk. I have swished twice so far with a sea salt solution w/a dropperful of echinacea tincture, and have just taken 3000mg Vitamin C. I'm about to go out with the flashlight to find fresh plantain to pack on the gum, hoping it's not too late in the season. If I can't find the fresh plant, I will use the tincture on a cotton ball as a packing. I am very low on echinacea tincture and will have to get some more in the morning.
I have never had dental problems like this before, so I'm not sure what else to do. I do NOT want to take antibiotics during pregnancy, but I know when a problem is getting severe, and I'm starting to get scared. The pain is simply not normal.

Try crushing a clove of garlic and placing a piece onto your gum and hold it there as long as you can. Garlic is a natural antibiotic, and should be safe for you to use while pregnant. Hopefully this will help!
Thank you. I was thinking about doing this, but I was worried that it would irritate the tissue and make it hurt worse. I may try it tomorrow though. Right now, I'm packing the tooth/gum with chewed up plantain leaf. It's helping a little bit. I'm hoping it's all better in the morning.
You're welcome. My experience with using garlic on toothaches/infections is that it helps reduce the pain and doesn't irritate the gum tissue.
I hope the plantain and night's rest is all you need!
